Made in China

This tea cup was hand painted by an artist from Chinese ceramics producer Asianera. Grace Liu founded Asianera in 1995 as a small studio workshop to revive the craft of hand-decorated porcelain and prove that distinctive, fine porcelain can still be produced in China. Now Asianera’s fine bone China can be found in shops in China, the United States and Australia.

Asianera exhibited at London’s new China Design Centre last summer. Stratton & Reekie is assisting the Centre to pioneer design collaborations and relationships between the UK and China. Look out for the Industrial Heritage Re-Use and Regeneration Forum at the Building Centre on 29th April 2015 hosting delegates from China keen to exchange ideas with UK experts. There is a lot of potential for industrial site regeneration in China.

The cup is a little reminder to us of all things Chinese… and it’s good for a shot of espresso as well as jasmine tea.
